One of the Melbourne Writers Festival’s international guests today joined Australia’s most prolific YA novelist on 774′s Conversation Hour. It seemed an unlikely pairing at first, but actually Bret Easton Ellis and John Marsden together made for some nice radio.
Guest hosting with Jon Faine this morning was Michael Williams, the head of programming at The Wheeler Centre and the man in charge of tonight’s BEE appearance at the Athenaeum, which sold out in just seven minutes. Meanwhile, the much anticipated Tomorrow When the War Began movie was released this week and we hear it is amazing. Can’t wait to see it.
At one point in the interview, the authors share their thoughts on film adaptations, dryly acknowledging that a movie version of their book might end up being crappy, but that ‘huge wad off cash’ the movie studio dangles in front of them inevitably proves too sweet to resist. Very entertaining.
